Jacqueline Gomes-Neves

Young Mayor: Lambeth

Jacqueline Gomes-Neves is a 17 year-old student at the Sacred Heart school Sixth Form, where she is Head Girl. She has been active in youth politics since the age of 14, representing her local youth club and founding the Brixton Youth Forum. Jacqueline is extremely passionate about giving young people a platform on which they can voice their opinions and directly influence decision makers, particularly young girls. Furthermore, she is dedicated to developing opportunities and crime prevention schemes for young people in her borough.

What I plan to while in office

Her aims for the two years she will serve in office are as follows:

  • Encouraging disabled young people and young girls to get involved in youth forums and local youth politics
  • Strengthening the link between local schools and youth clubs, creating an effective network of support and opportunities
  • Encouraging local businesses to open their doors to young people
  • Increasing synergy and competition between Lambeth’s young people and other London boroughs through debate, sport, music, art and knowledge
  • Developing partnerships with local gyms and sports clubs to offer free sessions for young people that live, study or work in Lambeth
  • Offering the opportunity to develop skills in film production
  • Promoting the achievements of local positive young people by introducing Youth Mayor Achievement Awards
